Nourishing your Energy:

Writer: Casandra Shell Casandra Shell

When we think of energy a few different things may come to mind. We may think of our physical level of energy, our stamina, or maybe the time and attention we are giving to something. Here we are focusing on physical, mental, emotional & spiritual energy. And discovering ways to cultivate more synergy on all levels. The following items are not in a specific order, allowing space for you to try things that feel right for you in your journey.

Movement: engaging in activities such as walking or yoga to calm the nervous system and support mobility and flexibility. Strength training or Martial Arts to build muscle and endurance.

Nutritious Foods: focus on a balanced diet rich in whole foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.

Stay Hydrated: drink plenty of water to maintain energy levels and support bodily functions. We are made mostly of water and often we are dehydrated without knowing it. In the morning starting the day with a cup of warm water helps to promote flushing toxins from the body and aid in digestion.

Sleep: prioritize quality sleep to allow your body to rest and recover. Following a calming bedtime routine. A warm shower or bath, herbal tea, practicing breath awareness can all help support your sleep.

Practice Mindfulness: engage in meditation or mindfulness practices to connect with your inner self, this can help to cultivate awareness and reduce stress. Journaling is also helpful.

Connect with Nature: spend time outdoors to rejuvenate your spirit and find peace. In Japan there is a beautiful practice known as Shinrin-Yoku or Forest Bathing. It's simply walking mindfully in nature or a forest. Even a few minutes each day is invaluable.

Set Boundaries: protect your energy by establishing healthy boundaries in relationships and commitments. This might also mean setting boundaries with ourselves. Being mindful of the things we are consuming. Whether it's reading, watching etc.

Engage in Spiritual Practices: This could include prayer, journaling, lighting incense, making alters or participating in community activities that resonate with your beliefs.

Cultivate Gratitude: regularly reflect on things you are grateful for to enhance your overall sense of well-being.

Preserving and balancing your energy involves a combination of mindful practices. Sometimes we may not know where to start, and that's alright. The most important is to listen to your body and do what feels right for you. As Pema Chödrön said "Start where you are". So take from here what resonates for you and if you see something that you feel might be of benefit to someone you know, please spread the love and share this with them!

Balancing these elements a little bit each day goes a long way and can help to maintain a healthy flow of energy in your life.
